Choice exclusions are part of AddOnBoss Pro.

Some choices in a set must not be picked together. On a polo, a customer may add Left Breast Print and Right Breast Embroidery. They must not add print and embroidery on the same breast. Exclusions let one set hold all four choices and still refuse the wrong pair.

The rules live on the set, so they travel to every product that uses it.

Group the choices that exclude each other

1. Open AddOnBoss → Option sets and open your set.
2. Under Customers choose, pick Several. The section only appears on a multi-pick set, because a one-pick set is exclusive by itself.
3. In Choices that can’t go together, press + Add group.
4. Name the group after what it protects, like Left breast.
5. Tick the choices that belong to it, like Left Breast Print and Left Breast Embroidery.
6. Add more groups if you need them. A polo usually takes two: one per breast.
7. Press Save set.

Customers can now pick one choice from each group. Choices in different groups still combine freely.

The name does the talking

The group's name is what customers read when a pair is refused: "Pick one Left breast choice for Embroidery." Name it the way a customer would say it.

A choice picked on its own

Some choices mean “none of the rest”. “No printing needed” is the usual one.

Tick that choice under Picked on its own. While a customer has it picked, every other choice in the set greys out. Most sets leave this list empty.

Grey out or hide

Under When a choice is blocked, pick how the page treats it:

• Grey it out and say why keeps the choice visible and explains itself. This is the default.
• Hide it removes the choice while it is blocked. Use it on very long lists.

How it looks to the customer

A blocked choice stays on the page, greyed. Hovering or tapping it shows a short note naming the conflict: Doesn’t go with Left Breast Print. Untick it first.

Nothing is ever unpicked for the customer, and the total never changes on its own. Untick the blocking choice and the greyed one wakes at once.

The page is only the polite half. If a conflicting pair reaches the till anyway, checkout refuses it with the same words your group name wrote. Nothing conflicting can be bought.

Preview it before saving

The Option set preview under the editor plays the rule live. Pick a choice in the preview and watch its group sibling grey out, before anything is saved.

Adjust it on one product

On a product’s Options panel, each attached set shows Choices that can’t go together with three settings:

• Uses the set’s groups, the default. The panel names them.
• Off for this product. The set’s rules stand down here only.
• This product’s own. Build different groups for this product alone.

This works like the per-product prices and hidden choices beside it.

What you should see

On the product page, pick a choice from a group. Its group siblings grey out, and hovering one shows the note naming your picked choice. Untick your pick and they wake. Add an allowed combination to the cart and every picked choice appears on the cart line, each with its own price.
