AddOnBoss documentation
New here? Start with Install & your first option set, then dip into whatever you need. AddOnBoss puts options, fields, add-ons and personalisation on any WooCommerce product, with no bundle involved.
AddOnBoss shares its option-set library with BundleBoss, so a set you build in one is available in the other, and the picks a customer makes flow through to the cart, the order, the confirmation email and a warehouse pick list.
Got an idea for a feature, or something you wish AddOnBoss did? We build from what shop owners tell us. See What’s new & coming and send us a note.
Install & your first option set
From a plain product to one that offers colours, sizes and a personalisation field, in a few steps.
Option sets
Build a list of choices once, with a price per option, and reuse it across every product.
Attach options to a product
Give a simple product colours and sizes shoppers pick like variations, with none of the variation admin.
Colour swatches
Show colour circles instead of text, set once or filled in from the colour name.
Custom fields
A name to print, a message, a number, a tick box, a dropdown, each optional or required, each able to carry a charge.
File & artwork uploads
Collect a logo or a print-ready design on the product page, with a template to download and fill in.
Positions & print areas
Let a customer choose where their design goes, front, back or sleeve, each area priced its own way.
Sell by measured size
Price by the metre or the square metre for anything cut to size: banners, fabric, worktops.
Price from a look-up table
Price a made-to-measure product from the grid you already work from, widths against drops, with your margin on top.
Option photos
A colour chip shows the garment in that colour and swaps the main image. Suggest photos matches them for you.
Conditional options
Show a set only when an earlier choice has a certain value, so the page stays short and clear.
Options on variable products
Keep your variations for stock and add option sets as priced extras on top.
Quantity grid
Order every colour and size in one go by typing into a grid, instead of adding one at a time.
Pricing & fees
How each choice and field adds to the price, once or per item or per letter, and how tax follows your shop settings.
Cart, checkout & orders
Picks and fields land on the cart line, the order and the confirmation email, named the way the customer chose them.
Edit options from the cart
A wrong size or a misspelt name is corrected in place: the product reopens with every choice filled in, ready to update.
Import & export sets
Move your set library between stores with their identity intact, for staging sites and agency work.
Appearance & colours
Calm defaults that suit any store, your theme's palette where it publishes one, and a Colours screen for the rest.
Troubleshooting
Common questions and quick fixes when something is not behaving.
What AddOnBoss is for
Section titled “What AddOnBoss is for”A WooCommerce product is either simple, one price and one Add to cart, or variable, a fixed grid of variations you generate and stock one by one. Neither fits a product a customer needs to configure: a shirt in twelve colours and seven sizes, a mug with a name printed on it, a banner cut to a size they type, a bag with a logo they upload.
AddOnBoss adds that middle ground. You attach choices, fields and uploads to a plain product, the customer configures it on its own page, and the price follows what they pick. No variations are generated, so there is nothing to scroll through and one stock line to keep honest.
Everything a customer chooses is resolved and priced on the server from your saved settings, never from anything the browser sends, and every figure follows your shop’s tax display setting.
