Edit options from the cart

A customer who notices the wrong size, a misspelt name or a forgotten add-on in the cart should not have to delete the line and configure the product from scratch. Every line that carries options also carries an Edit options link that reopens the product exactly as they configured it, ready to change.

The link in the cart

Under an optioned line’s product name sits Edit options, on the cart page and in the mini basket alike. It appears on every line AddOnBoss put there, whatever the line carries: picks, fields, a measured or typed size, an upload, a print position. A plain line with no options offers no link, and the checkout review table shows none either; checkout is for checking, not editing.

Lines added by the quantity grid are the one exception. A grid order is one configuration spread across many lines, so a single row is not reopened on its own; the quantities are changed on the product’s grid instead.

Everything comes back filled in

The link opens the product’s own page with the whole configuration restored: the chosen options and swatches, every field as it was typed, a typed or measured size exactly as entered, the chosen print area, the quantity, and each block of a repeating group in its own place. A choice that had unlocked a further option unlocks it again, so the page reads exactly as the customer left it.

An uploaded file is not asked for twice. It shows as an attached chip with its file name, and the customer keeps it or removes and replaces it. Nobody re-uploads artwork just to fix a size.

A plain banner at the top says what is happening: You are changing an item from your cart. Your choices are filled in below, and nothing changes until you save. A Back to the cart without saving link sits beside it, so backing out is one click and costs nothing.

Update cart

While editing, the button under the options reads Update cart rather than Add to cart. Pressing it replaces the original line with the corrected one, in the same place in the cart, so the basket never jumps about and the lines around it are untouched. The customer lands back on the cart with a notice that the item has been updated.

A blocked update never loses the line

The corrected configuration is checked before anything is touched, by the same rules as any add to cart. If it does not pass, a required field emptied, a size outside its limits, not enough stock at the new quantity, the original line stays in the cart exactly as it was, and the customer sees the usual notice naming what to fix. They are still editing, so putting it right and pressing Update cart again completes the change.

If the line has gone by the time the page opens, bought in another tab, or removed, the page says so plainly and starts fresh rather than pretending to edit something that is no longer there.

Nothing to set up

Cart editing is part of the free plugin and is always on. There is no setting to enable, and it works for every optioned product automatically.
