Pause or stop a supplier

There are two ways to stop a supplier, and they do very different things.

	What it does	Use it when
Off (the schedule)	Stops checking. Every figure stays exactly where it is.	Your supplier is having trouble, or a token cannot be replaced until Monday.
Stop using this supplier	Puts your own stock settings back on every product, then removes the supplier.	You are done with them, or you want your own numbers back.

Pause a supplier

Set the supplier’s schedule to Off. I will check it myself. It stops running. Nothing is undone, nothing is handed back, nothing is forgotten.

A paused supplier’s card says Paused, in its own quiet colour. It is not shown as healthy, so it cannot sit there green and forgotten. It is not shown as broken either, because pausing it was your choice. A supplier that was already failing when you paused it still says so, because trouble outranks paused.

To start it again, pick any interval on the schedule.

Stop using a supplier for good

Stop using this supplier puts back what was yours on every connected product:

• whether the product manages stock at all
• its quantity
• its backorder setting
• its stock status

All four go back exactly as they were before StockBoss first wrote to them. Then the supplier is removed.

StockBoss can restore your settings because it saved them once, before its first write, and never overwrote that copy. Units held by a Safety margin or under Take off what you have already sold are not lost either. What returns is your own saved numbers, whole.

What survives

• Your products. All of them, untouched apart from having their own numbers back.
• The codes you matched them to. Reconnecting later takes a credential and nothing else.
• Your copy of the supplier’s range, if you had one.

Stopping does not break anything, and reconnecting is not a rebuild.

What you should see

1. Press Stop using this supplier on the supplier’s settings.
2. The confirmation tells you how many products will get their own settings back. A real number, so you can check it against what you expect.
3. On a large shop it runs in batches. If there is more to do, it says how many products are left. Press the button again until it says none.
4. The supplier’s card disappears, and your products show their own numbers.

The schedule is stopped before any product is handed back. Without that, a scheduled run could write fresh supplier figures over the settings just returned. On a supplier that checks every fifteen minutes, that would be a real risk, not a rare one.

A product you took back by hand

Maybe you disconnected one product earlier and set your own number on it. Stopping the supplier keeps your number on that product, not the supplier’s last one. What you did most recently is what you meant.

Uninstalling the plugin

Removing StockBoss leaves your products alone. It does not hand everything back, and it does not keep writing. It stops, and your products keep whatever figures they had at that moment.

Want your own settings back? Press Stop using this supplier first, while the plugin is still there to do it. Uninstalling afterwards removes StockBoss’s own settings and its copy of the range. Your products and their supplier codes stay exactly where they are.
